The economy stinks. Gas prices are at an all time high and it's gotten so that just trying to pay the bills is a monumental task. Even people with full time jobs are finding that they have to supplement their income and are thus turning to the Internet in order to start a home business. The problem with this, however, is getting started. There is so much to do that many are just overwhelmed by it all. This article is going to explain, by example, why this is such a difficult hill to get over.
Let's say for example that you decide that you want to sell your own informational product. This is a common thing that many home business owners do. It's relatively simple, or at least it seems so. The truth is, there is a lot of work that goes into creating an info product, or ebook, that many people don't see.
To start with, there is the creation of the ebook itself. This can take an enormous amount of time on its own, not to mention the amount of research that has to go into creating one. But it doesn't stop there. In order to promote the ebook, you need a lot of supporting items. For one thing, you need a sales page for your ebook. Unless you spend thousands of dollars to have one made for you, you'll have to create it yourself. This is also very time consuming and not easy if you've never done one.
Aside from the ebook and sales page, you will also want to create a report to give away. This is done in order to build your own list of prospects to sell to. This requires yet another product to create plus a squeeze page to collect opt ins in addition to an autoresponder series of followup emails so that you can keep in touch with your list. All of this takes time and skill to create.
Finally, you need your own website in order to establish a web presence online. Websites can cost thousands of dollars to have designed depending on how sophisticated you want them. Yes, you can creat the site yourself, but then we get into the amount of time and effort required to do this, which is quite considerable.
So as you can see, starting a home business can be a daunting task. That's why so many home business hopefuls never get started. The thought of doing all this, not to mention promoting your business, is just overwhelming. They say that taking action is the hardest part. This is why.
